How many guppies will fit in a 10gallon tank.?

i wanted to get two guppies and i know they will have alot of babies so i was wondering how many will fit in the tank

i will get a larger tank to put them in once i can afford it

i was wondering what kind of environment they like to live in. what plants like to live in.

i know 1 or 1/2 inch per gallon but i thought i could have a couple more.

How many guppies will fit in a 10gallon tank.?
If you can get plenty of live plants growing and thriving in the tank -- easy ones, like java fern or duckweed -- you can probably manage a dozen or so. Guppies aren't picky about what kind, and a thin layer of simple gravel or pebbles just keep the plants rooted is good enough. Keep in mind that the babies require cleaner water and many more feedings than the parents do in order to survive, if you really want to raise them, but you can't raise more than one spawning in a 10 gallon no matter how many plants you add because one female can have 20, 30... 80 babies at once.

The easiest thing by far would be to add a single female betta to the tank with the guppies and she will enjoy the stimulation of the hunt and the good nutrition of live food. Then, you don't have to worry about overpopulation. You know, it's not the "more humane" thing to try to save every single baby fish. In the wild, only the strongest and smartest survive.

Also, you might want to start with 3 or 4 guppies. One female is not enough to keep up with a male's demands and once she is pregnant he will continue to hound her. Sometimes the females can't survive the stress. Having 2 or 3 females per male helps spread his attention out.
Reply:you better know how many u want in 10 gal tank.

they love planted aquarium. i suggest you to keep hornwart plant in it. this plant are very hardy plant and grow nicely and looks good. you can also keep very few (not more than 2) water lettuce plant, this plant grow very fast and also this plant help your fish to provide oxygen.
Reply:You can fit up to 12, that's how many I had (not including the tetras and gold fish.) they like caves and any plant will do, they like caves cause when the males joust for the females the loser needs a place to hide till it's over. I now have a twenty gallon tank which is a good size. MAKE SURE the cave is not to big or deep as if it is they will NEVER come out and they ether starve to death or they will be more vulnerable to disease, Why? cause water dose not circulate or get filtered to well in big caves. 1 inch across and 1 inch back should do the trick.
Reply:I think you should either get all males or all females. We used to have guppies and ended up with about 10 bowls around the house. We had to give them all away and they are NEVERENDING. If you have a male and a female, you'll have about 20 in a month or something. Also, they eat the babies. D:
Reply:I wish i could tell you that it's fine to get more than 10 guppies, but sorry. If you want your fish to thrive, you really need to follow the 1 inch per gallon rule.

if you have plants (fake or not) in there, measure them cause it takes up space and will not let you get the exact 10 guppies.

If you still don't have the money to buy a bigger tank, just be satisfied at the moment having two guppies. You don't wanna risk their happiness and lives now right? Think about them and not you.
Reply:dosnt matter if you just get two and they breed when it gets full theill eat all the fry and you wont get any more i breed them for lizard food ^.^
Reply:yeah guppies tend to be pretty hardy so i'd say maybe 15, but without taking the guppies health or well being into play well i say a 10 gal would fit about a couple thousand maybe more
Reply:a rough guide is to estimate the length of all your fish combined, if that is longer than the tank you have too many in there
Reply:12 if you have an air rock, they like quite dense plants and dense plants are if any of the fry are to survive
