So my husband, daughter %26amp; I were at the lake today and a green plant looking stick washed up to shore %26amp; it had a big gel looking bubble attached to it. The stick was probably a foot and a half long, the big glob of gel was about 5 - 7 inches long %26amp; 3 inches around. Someone said it was fish eggs, but it didn't look like fish eggs to me...it didn't have the round balls that most fish eggs have....it was just a really thick gel. Like a firm jello would be.
Does anyone have any clue as to what it is??? (the gel was a yellowish/brownish/green)
Fish Eggs? or Plant?
Yeech! Industrial waste, maybe?
But on the bright side, it could still be eggs from a fish or other water-borne animal. The gel could just be a protective covering.
I assume you didn't take it home with you! Don't blame ya!!
Reply:It could be fish eggs that had not developed yet. Or it could be amphibian eggs. Both come in gel mass.
Reply:The gell could have been recently fertilized or dieing which would explain why it was close to the surface.
