Every time ive ever tried to care for a plant, i have killed it either from drowning it or starving it, but im determined to keep trying until i get it right. This is the first time ive tried growing something from a seed. So far i have germinated 12 seeds, they are 1/2 to 1 inch tall. Do i need to water them if i am leaving plastic wrap over them, how much water? Its about 50 degrees outside is it safe to put them outside for a few hours a day? They will be outdoor potted plants, how much should i water them once i put them in a pot? i think you get the point.
I need step by step instruction on how to grow a blanketflower?
It's probably a little chilly for them at 50 degrees, I would not suggest it as your plants are still delicate at this stage.
If your soil is dried out give a little water but overwatering is fatal.
Deadhead regularly to prolong blooming, but leave some faded flowers if you want plants to self seed.
Blanket flowers thrive in hot, dry and windy areas, full sun and poor soil. This is one of the longest-blooming perennial.
Wait for soil to look dry, cracking before watering. Water sparingly.
I live on the prairies in Canada and these grow all over the place. We had a drought in our area for about 4 yrs and while crops failed left and right the blanketflowers lived.
Good luck, don't give up.
