My fiancee got me a hyacinth for Valentine's day. It has beautiful white flowers. Since the day he brought it home it had been drying up and dying. Yesterday the plany just sort of drooped over. I think that I am watering it enough. What can I do to make it healthy again. It is about 12 inches tall. How much should I water it? How much sunlight does it need? Anything else?
My Hyacinth plant is dying?
Its not dying, it's just done with its blooming period. The hyacinth is a bulb and only flowers once a growing season, unless you give it the required cooling period and "force" it to bloom again.. Here is a link with all the info you will need on the growing and care of your beautiful flowering bulb...

Reply:Don't worry, that's what Hyacinths do. They come out so beautiful in spring, show off, and quickly disappear. Plant them or dig up the bulbs and put them in a cool dry place and they will come back. They are a gift that keeps on giving.
Reply:Hyacinth only blooms once. Just cut the spent flower stalk to the base of the plant and leave the foilage to turn yellow before removing it. The foilage will feed the bulb for next years blooms. If you are going to overwinter the bulbs in a pot outdoors, make sure it will stay at an even temp for several weeks.
