How do I get rid of Banana trees?

I have been using very concentrated round up to try to kill some banana plants that are inching towards my fence and my neighbors yard. I had them under control for a while and not it seems they are growing like crazy. I tried some round up about a week ago and new ones are still sprouting. What can I do to get rid of them? What about salt?

How do I get rid of Banana trees?
Physical removal of underground stems (suckers) is the most effective. One grown plant usually have many sprouts around it, so you need to dig around the one large plant to remove all the youngs. Salt is okay but it will harm your soil in the long run. If it not too scary, you can try to set the sprouts on fire. Burnt sprouts can fertilize your soil too.
Reply:burn them and cover the soil with salt
Reply:Your only chance is to remove all new sprouts when you see them. The sprouts are connected to the parent plant by a single root. You should use a shovel to cut this root then simply pull out the sprout. The sprouts should not be to difficult to remove if you get them when small. The mature trees that are spawning the sprouts will die after they proudce fruit one time. If you do not allow the sprouts to mature eventually there will be no more trees. Hope this helps.
Reply:Banana Tree grows pretty fast, and you can't get rid of them. Best is to not water them or block sun from penetrating, thus will slow down the process of growing and sprouting new seedlings. If you do that, it will kill off the banana trees.
