Tomato plant?
tomatoes are hearty just replant up to the first set of leaves, they grow roots up the stem,They like a deep watering, but not soggy. Keep them in light at least 12 to 14 hours and plant outside. Fertilize and stake to keep the air flow around them so you don't get mildew. when they get the bigger pick off the side shoots this puts the energy into the plants and when they set fruit snip the top too, you want ripe tomatoes not 12 foot tall plants. Good Luck.
Reply:Plant the tomato back in the soil with some of the main stem buried. If you keep the soil damp, it will probably be fine. Tomatoes grow like weeds in the right conditions. Don;t water too much, but make sure the soil is damp at all times.

You can grow tomatoes under artificial light, but best of all is 14-16 hours of daylight. You get that in England in the summer. Tomatoes grow well outdoors in England most summers and this is the best place for them. If the night time temperature is due to dip below about 10 deg C, you will need to bring it indoors as low temperatures will shock the plant.
Reply:I live in USA. I live near NYC on Long Island. Tomato's are pretty hardy. Tomato's need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight. The plant is suppose to be planted deep in the soil up to the bottom leaves of the plant, even if it is almost all the way up the plant, plant it up to the bottom leaves. If you need to take it in, you can always plant it in a pot and put out in the sun during the day and transplant when weather permits. Keep the soil moist. Do not let soil dry out. If soil is allowed to go from wet to dry too often it causes the tomato's to have problems like disease and deformities. Fertilize every 1 - 2 weeks and you will have huge plants and lots of fruit. Make sure you stake the plant as it grows.

One way you can see how your tomato plant is doing is if you check the root systems. If the roots are developing, your tomato plant should be fine. Tomatoes do need light and water. They thrive in sunny locations, so if and when you get sun, make sure your tomato is getting the sunlight. If you lost some leaves and the root system is healthy, new growth should appear in a week or two.

I didn't quite understand if you replanted your tomato back in the ground or in a container. If you planted it back in the ground, you can add some organic mushroom compost to your soil. This is an organic fertilizer that will last up to one year. It doesn't smell great, but your tomato plant will love it.

If you put it in a container, light weight potting soil with vermiculite and humus is a great combination. I will link you to the site map page of my website. This page has everything that is on the website. Browse through as there are many articles, tips and techniques that may help you with your tomato plant or any other garden project.
