Help with growing an advocado plant...?

All the online sites I have just seen, advise sticking in cocktail sticks and inch UP from the rounded base....!!!

Thing is, the "pit" is only an inch high in total .....and it's ROUND... (no pointy bit).

would love to hear from anyone who's growing one, (my niece brought home the idea from school). Do you know what the best "feed" is for prolific growth.? Thank you.

Help with growing an advocado plant...?
Your seed may not be mature enough to give you a good start but advocados are very easy to grow. The seed will split and when it does you will be able to tell which end will be the top and the bottom. Don't worry just keep it in a lot of light, in water and enjoy.
Reply:I did this several years ago. Yes, you position is so that 1/3 of it is in the water. Just keep it in fresh water until the roots grow out the bottom and the stalk grows out of the top.

Mine is planted in the back yard now, about 8 feet tall.
