Why is my cordyline not growing ?

I have planted 2 cordyline plans in my garden about six months ago , they are both in direct sunlight and in good ground yet one has grown 3 foot and the other one has not grown at all and only is 5 inches high still , the same hight it was when i planted it ? Any ideas why this is and what can i do to incourage grouth of it ?

you may find that by next spring/summer they will take off and grow beautifully. i think they need maybe about 6-9months to get established. They will flourish as long as they are getting good light, and plenty of air around them. Don't give up on them.
Reply:thanks for the bunch of 10. Good luck for 2008! Report It
Reply:cordyline plants love sunlight and humidity, here in florida they grow as large as some trees
Reply:Mark / Not sure what part of the world you live but if it is in England then for a Cordyline to grow 3ft in a year is unprecedented.

The fact that the other one had "stood still" points to a common planting mistake ------ if you dig it up you may find that it is bone dry just as it was when you planted it.

Hope this helps
