Will my daylilies flower this year?

I'm new at gardening and last summer thanks to the loveley bubble bees and white butterflies my daylilies got pollinated and i read that you can grow some from the seeds, but it was supposed to be very hard... so in Noveber I planted 8 seeds and in december I saw two had sprouted, then one sprouted in January. they are four inches high, should I keep them in the pot, fertilize them, or plant them outside.

Will my daylilies flower this year?
Keep them inside until they have a well developed root system. Allow them to grow to about 10 to 12 inches before planting outside. I doubt that they will bloom this year but who knows? Let them become quite hardy indoors and do not plant outside until the ground is 60 degrees consistently.
Reply:They will not flower this year. Depending where you live, you can put them in the ground now. I am in zone 8b and my daylilies are in the ground. Next year, they will flower and you may have brand new daylily hybrids that you can name after your mother or yourself.
Reply:After chance of frost I'd plant them outside, just to give them an edge so they don't have to go through a shock of the cold. They can take frost, it's just easier if they don't. You can leave them in the ground for the winter, at worst they might die to the ground but will return from the roots. I live up in the cold, at the edge of zones 4 %26amp; 5 and my daylilies take the winters great.

Daylilies aren't terribly hard to grow from seed, you can get some great unusual at times. You won't get flowers this year but it is likely you will next year. Daylilies are tough.

Welcome the gardening!
