I have a new plot in a community garden. I dont know what was planted there before. There are two beds. One I have turned over a half inch of compost in it, the other is full of Fava beans to raise the level of nitrogen. Compost also raises the level of nitrogen. If I turn under some compost where the favas are before i plant is there a risk of over nitrogenating? Are there certain plants that like alot of nitrogen more than others?
Can I make my garden over nitrogenated organically?
There are definately plants that like a lot of nitrogen. Corn for example, is a heavy nitrogen feeder. As for the over nitrogenating, I wouldn't think so but I do think it might depend on the type of compost. A soil test is always helpful.
Reply:lettuce cabbage or any greens need alot of nitrogen corn might make i'm not sure if you can put to much nitrogen in the soil like that i doubt it but i've never tried it or seen it done
