Why is my potted on fuschia loosing it's leaves?

i bought several plug plants and potted them on in 3 inch pots a few weeks ago. most of them are growing fine but one upright fushia has got limp leaves and the slightest of touches makes the leaves fall off, can anyone pls tell me what the cause is?

Why is my potted on fuschia loosing it's leaves?
hi. you dont say whether you have any other symptoms..fuschia are prone to botrytis, damping off. the 'plug'stage is most vulnerable. it is usualy accompanied by a dusty mould though. vine veevil is as described previosly, except the grub has a 'gold' colour head. i've found they tend to infest older plants as the parent lays the eggs in the soil of bigger plants so fresh potting compost should be clear. you dont say where you bought your plants.. i had a bad experience with a certain mail order supplier who advertises in the 'sundays' and is based in woodham ferrers. i lost all but one of the large californian doubles i received from them to botrytis. you shouldnt be feeding the plants yet, wait untill they are starting to flower in 3" or 6" pots. regular pottin' up gives plenty of nutrients. fuschias like free draining 'open' compost. my advise regarding the affected plant would be, unless it is a hard to get variety, dump it in the bin-pot n all -before it has the chance to infect any others.they are also prone to red spider mite. this is manifested by a reddish blotching to the underside of the leaves. overall, making sure that your pots are clean (wash with jeys fluid) and good compost mix together with good ventilation around the plants should help keep the plants healthy. i would recomend joining your local fuschia society, its a good source of information and new plants. i have a surefire way to propogate from cuttings if youre interested, drop me a mail or im. good luck! brian.
Reply:Personally I've had a lot of probs transplanting fuschia, I think that any root disruption gets them upset. You can keep looking after it, but in my experience, it probably is a gonner.
Reply:Sounds like vine weevil. Gently pull the stem - if the weevils have eaten all the roots then the plant will come away from the soil easily and really, is about to die. If not, then gently remove the plant from the pot and check the compost for the weevil grubs (horrible fat maggoty looking things with black heads). If you find these, you may be able to save your plant by removing the existing compost and re-potting in fresh compost. Throw the infected compost away (I kill the grubs by squashing them th death) and wash the pots in a solution of Jeyes fluid.

If vine weevil attack is not the problem, then perhaps some of the other answers will be able to help you.
Reply:In my opinion you have over potted it putting the plant under to much stress and by over potting it this means that you have also over watered it, it could also be down cold spells
Reply:Why does everyone say "loosing".. It drives me nuts.. Its losing. Sorry, i couldnt let it go, i see it all the time and it really bothers me.
