Which plant absorbs the most CO2.?

Which is most efficient? Does a 1 square inch section of maple leaf absorb more then one square inch of spinach? Sure a redwood abosrbs more,,,,but if a spinch plant were as big as a redwood would the spinch abostb more?

Which plant absorbs the most CO2.?
Quite a hypothetical question, it is really related also to teh ability of the plant to store that converted CO2. Scaling laws may not work so well... do you scale the surface area of teh leaves or the voume of the plant or its height? All could give very different answers.
Reply:Microscopic algae in the surface waters of the open ocean produce most of the world's oxygen, so presumably they absorb most of the CO2 as well.
