The top of the bulb is maybe two inches under ground. I am watering daily. When can I expect to see the plant break ground?
How long does it take for an elephant ear bulb to start growing once planted. I live in Dallas, TX.?
Good on the planting depth...I didn't plant mine any deeper than that, but I'm hoping you're not watering too frequently since they have broken ground yet. I planted my elephant ears in late January, mulched over by about 3 inches with Texas black mulch, and they've only just started to grow, in the last few weeks. I think it has more to do with the temps staying consistently warm, than anything else.
According to one site, elephant ears like it when the days are consistently above 55*F...we've been THERE for a bit already! lol (North of Houston area)
Ever tried growing the Black Elephant Ear? I've wanted to but they are rather cost prohibitive...
This was the ONLY site that I could find that even addressed the ground break issue...http://experts.about.com/q/Tropical-Plan... and http://experts.about.com/q/Perennials-72...
